Keith Waller explored the new Industrialising and Digitalising Construction Challenge (IDCC) and its potential to connect
demand, standards, technology and manufacturing capacity. His session revealed how regional pilots can prove new
delivery models before they are scaled nationally across housing and public infrastructure.
Jeff Endean will show how the West Midlands Advanced Construction Cluster is turning regional manufacturing
strength into a collaborative route to scale. Discover why shared capability, verified systems and aggregated market
demand could help construction follow the transformation already achieved by automotive and aerospace.
Darren Shaw will set out how Skills England is responding to changing construction and built-environment capability needs.
The presentation will explore how occupational standards, apprenticeships and employer-led pathways must evolve to
support digital, manufacturing and assembly-based roles that align with offsite manufacturing requirements
Mel Jacobsen Cox will share the first year of insight from the NHS MMC Assessment Tool, including what submissions
reveal and how the tool is evolving. She will also show how assurance data and the ProCure23 efficiency programme
can inform smarter, more standardised capital investment.
James Turner – Laing O’ Rourke
James Turner will explore how digital design and detailing processes are being transformed at Explore Manufacturing to
better support modern methods of construction. Drawing on practical examples of Product-Led design and manufacturing
simulation, he will show how design decisions can be better aligned with manufacturing realities, enabling safer, more
predictable, and more efficient outcomes through an Engineered Safety approach.
Andrew Baker-Kean will explain how the correct standardisation in the design and technical process can create opportunities
in the factory production process. This will include the utilisation of automation, robotics, and accurate tracking throughout
production. He will also cover how AI can be used to analyse large datasets to create future improvements and support further
standardisation.
Simon Harold will take delegates inside 3 Copper Square, where PCE’s hybrid DfMA approach combines precast concrete,
steel and timber on a constrained urban site. The case study will show how early collaboration and precise assembly can
unlock architectural ambition, lower carbon and programme certainty.
Thomas Boyle will examine how modular healthcare facilities can add capacity quickly while protecting live clinical
operations. Using Good Hope Hospital as the case study, she will show how offsite delivery can combine speed, quality and
financial flexibility in a sector under intense pressure
Mark Griffin will demonstrate how NG Bailey’s OSM model takes complex MEP systems off site and turns them into
engineered, tested and installation-ready assemblies. Using major airport delivery as the lens, he will show how
product-led standardisation reduces interfaces, sitecongestion and programme risk.
Phil Cook will show how Reds10’s end-to-end model combines design, manufacture, delivery and smart building technology to transform defence accommodation. Through NetCAP and Single Living Accommodation case studies, he will reveal how standardisation at scale can accelerate delivery while improving certainty, quality and the lived experience of service personnel.
